The Historic Pearl

Happy Sunday loves! It’s Super Bowl Sunday and here I am writing a blog post.. my team isn’t playing in the game so all I care about is the commercials.  Am I the only one?

This weekend I had one of my good friends and old Disney roommate come into San Antonio and I took the liberty of showing her around. When thinking of places I wanted to take her, The Historic Pearl was one of the first on my list because it is such a gorgeous place.

I love the Pearl area because I feel like there is so much to do. There are many tasty restaurants/cafes, cute boutiques to shop at, bars, and a great outdoor area to socialize with friends. The Pearl is also dog friendly so you will see many pups strolling around, which is one of my favorite things to do! I am obsessed with dogs and hope to have one of my own soon.

The Pearl used to be a brewery up until 2001 and then was renovated to be what it is today! There are so many great photo opportunities at The Pearl with all the beautiful buildings, amazing architecture, and eateries. The Pearl is also right off the Riverwalk as well, the area by the Riverwalk is so gorgeous and romantic for a date or picnic.

Outfit Details

My outfit of the day was overalls paired with a long sleeve white crop top from Forever 21 and heel booties. It rained a bit in the morning yesterday so it left the streets wet and a little chilly. This outfit was great because it kept me warm since I was fully covered and I didn’t have to wear a jacket over it. I love days where the weather doesn’t involve wearing a jacket! The overalls are from Agaci, I got them on sale for less than $10! You can find similar here and here if you like longer pants.

Caro and I walked around the Pearl and visited Hotel Emma (a gorgeous hotel right there in the area). As well as stopped at Bakery Lorraine and had a pastry and some lattes to fuel us up before going shopping at the mall

It was so nice to have the day off and be able to go explore San Antonio. We get so caught up with life that we forget to show love to the cities we live in. I love being a tourist in my own city and having days off to go explore and see what more my city has to offer. If you ever visit San Antonio, visiting The Historic Pearl is a must! They also have a farmers marker Saturday’s 9am-1pm and Sunday’s 10am-2pm rain or shine. Whether it’s just for a few hours or making a day of it, always go explore and have fun in the city you live in!

My Favorite New Accessory | A Unique Wood Watch by JORD

Watches are not only an accessory, but also a necessity with my busy lifestyle.

Watches are one of my favorite jewelry pieces and are timeless.  I literally have a collection of watches in my jewelry collection and they all range from different face sizes and metals.

Much to say I was very excited when I got contacted by a company named JORD Watches for a collaboration. After looking at their website and Instagram, I quickly became a fan of their watches and high-key obsessed.  I had never seen watches that were made of all wood, until I discovered JORD watches. I love that they are hand crafted from raw woods & materials. There is literally a watch for everyone, no matter man or woman, or fashion style.

You can Shop their watch collection here

I was able to choose any watch I wanted out of their wide collection of flawless watches. When I looked at their women’s collection online, the first watch that caught my eye was the Frankie Series in Purpleheart and Plum. For as long as I can remember, purple has been my favorite color, I saw the Purpleheart and Plum watch and I knew I needed it! The Purpleheart wood is a beautiful mix between pink and purple. It had a large plum colored face which I mentioned, I am a big fan of . I feel like this watch can be worn in any season whether it be fall or summer. It is a bright vibrant color during the summer time and a subtle deep color for the fall/winter time. JORD also gives you the ability to engrave your watch with any message or name you want, I have never had any jewelry pieces personally engraved with my name so I was so excited that this was an option! I got my first and middle name “Lori Allison” engraved on the back face of my watch in cursive. I couldn’t wait to get my watch delivered!

When I got the email notification that my watch got delivered I was super excited to get home! The watch was in a beautiful wood box and right when I opened it, my nose got hit with the smell of fresh wood! I never knew how good fresh cut wood smelt. The watch was exactly how imagined, the pigment of the Purplewood and the size of the watch face. It was also very light which I didn’t expect since its made all out of wood!

I am so happy JORD reached out to me to collaborate with them, it has been such a great experience. I am in love with my watch, it is my new go to watch, I have already worn it out multiple times and have gotten so many compliments on it. The quality of their watches is amazing and I definitely recommend them to anyone and everyone!

Xo, MandySue

Happy Sunday!

A while back I got contacted by a boutique located in Newport Beach, California named Xo Mandy Sue to collaborate with them. My answer was an easy yes because all of their clothes are so cute and affordable, I also love that their style is beachy and effortless. If only I actually lived by a beach..

I purchased the Cheery set which is perfect for the summer time, it came with a tank top with knots at the sleeve and a pair of shorts with pockets. This set was only $52 which I love because I feel like it was super affordable compared to most stores. I love that you can throw this on for any activity such as going to the museum like I did, or even just to go to brunch. The heat and humidity is insane here in Texas so this set was definitely a go-to because it was so light and breathable. I also have been loving the color yellow lately and love that it really made me look tan – I felt like a ray of sunshine while wearing this outfit. I paired this outfit with my nude BP booties from Nordstrom and some statement earrings from Kendra Scott & of course some of my favorite sunnies. I wish it stayed hot year round in San Antonio so I could wear this set more often, but unfortunately its time to start preparing for the cooler, fall weather.

I also purchased the Mila dress, one thing that caught my eye about this dress when I was online shopping was the color blue, I am a big fan of light blue and periwinkle hues and I also loved that it was a floral pattern! The dress was $42, and honestly I think this dress would look flattering on any body shape and women of any size. You have the option to tie the dress around the neck to give it more of a high collared look but I decided to leave it loose and have the strings hang down on the side. I paired this dress with my tan fedora hat from Forever 21 and my DSW Franco Sarto open toed heels that I purchased from DSW and accessorized with my Purpleheart & Plum Jord Wood Watch and my gold Lacy earrings from Kendra Scott. I have already worn this dress so many times, I love the loose long sleeves and how flowy the dress is.

Texas Pride, San Antonio Fashion

Texas is a great, big state with a lot to offer! Among the sites to see, food to eat, and events to attend, we also have a variety of styles! Today I’m pleased to share with you two fellow Texans that are also my fashion blogger friends. Diana is a blogger at The Neon Factor based in Houston, and Devoreaux is a blogger at The Prep Pursuit based in Dallas.

We each decided to share looks in landmark locations to our respective cities! Check out their amazing looks below!

San Antonio is famous for its beautiful skyline, and there is no better place to go to see it than the Hays Street Bridge. The Hays Street Bridge has become very popular over the last few years. They host different events like yoga, bike riding, mixers, and make the perfect place for pictures of downtown San Antonio. Overalls have been around for as long as I can remember, and they aren’t going away anytime soon.  Denim isn’t usually included in my summer look-book because it’s so hot, but these denim overalls are an outfit for the summer time, especially with this Texas heat. I love this distressed style and love that they’re versatile.  You can wear them casual during the day or dress them up for the night. I paired the overalls with a black tank top and accessorized with a taupe fedora to block out the sun during the day. This is definitely a summer outfit to beat the Texas heat and still be trendy at the same time while exploring everything the city has to offer!

We each decided to share looks in landmark locations to our respective cities! Which is why you may recognize the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge in the background of my shots! Now it’s hot here in Dallas… And I don’t mean warm, I mean steaming hot! One of my favorite summer accessories is a parasol guard the flaming sun waves beating down. I love this dress, featuring a tropical palm tree print! It’s summery and vibrant, and makes me feel like I’m on a tropical location – even if I’m home here in Dallas!

In the heart of Houston’s downtown area you’ll find Buffalo Bayou Park. It’s a gorgeous park that people gather from around the city for their daily bike rides, exercise, or to just soak in some sun. The floral print of the skirt goes beautifully with the background. Houston gets extremely hot in the summer so the glass gets slightly dry but the flowers still bloom in the heat. And as I love bright bold colors I couldn’t help but add these fabulous metallic colors. I wear this jacket year round in different ways. Some nude cage sandals to finish the look and I’m off to enjoy the beautiful city of Houston.
