Texas Pride, San Antonio Fashion

Texas is a great, big state with a lot to offer! Among the sites to see, food to eat, and events to attend, we also have a variety of styles! Today I’m pleased to share with you two fellow Texans that are also my fashion blogger friends. Diana is a blogger at The Neon Factor based in Houston, and Devoreaux is a blogger at The Prep Pursuit based in Dallas.

We each decided to share looks in landmark locations to our respective cities! Check out their amazing looks below!

San Antonio is famous for its beautiful skyline, and there is no better place to go to see it than the Hays Street Bridge. The Hays Street Bridge has become very popular over the last few years. They host different events like yoga, bike riding, mixers, and make the perfect place for pictures of downtown San Antonio. Overalls have been around for as long as I can remember, and they aren’t going away anytime soon.  Denim isn’t usually included in my summer look-book because it’s so hot, but these denim overalls are an outfit for the summer time, especially with this Texas heat. I love this distressed style and love that they’re versatile.  You can wear them casual during the day or dress them up for the night. I paired the overalls with a black tank top and accessorized with a taupe fedora to block out the sun during the day. This is definitely a summer outfit to beat the Texas heat and still be trendy at the same time while exploring everything the city has to offer!

We each decided to share looks in landmark locations to our respective cities! Which is why you may recognize the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge in the background of my shots! Now it’s hot here in Dallas… And I don’t mean warm, I mean steaming hot! One of my favorite summer accessories is a parasol guard the flaming sun waves beating down. I love this dress, featuring a tropical palm tree print! It’s summery and vibrant, and makes me feel like I’m on a tropical location – even if I’m home here in Dallas!

In the heart of Houston’s downtown area you’ll find Buffalo Bayou Park. It’s a gorgeous park that people gather from around the city for their daily bike rides, exercise, or to just soak in some sun. The floral print of the skirt goes beautifully with the background. Houston gets extremely hot in the summer so the glass gets slightly dry but the flowers still bloom in the heat. And as I love bright bold colors I couldn’t help but add these fabulous metallic colors. I wear this jacket year round in different ways. Some nude cage sandals to finish the look and I’m off to enjoy the beautiful city of Houston.

Photoshoot contest

Hello again, loves!

Sorry it has been a while, working for Disney has me busy, busy, busy!

A few months ago I won a photo-shoot contest for a local photographer in San Antonio ‘Laura D Photography’. Laura was looking for models of all ages, with no modeling experience what so ever to help her expand her photography clientele. Three winners would be chosen – one for a portrait session, one for couples/engagement sessions, and one for a family session, you would also receive one complimentary photo shoot session, as well as an on set makeup artist, who would do your makeup for you the day of your photo-shoot.

Out of all the people who inquired and for the contest, I was one of the people chosen as a model! I was of course, so excited because I haven’t done a photo-shoot since I was taking pictures for my Quince invitations/party. Of course, being an aspiring fashion blogger, I knew not only would this photo-shoot help me be taken more seriously by companies and people in the world of Fashion but it would also benefit Laura by gaining new clientele from my followers on Instagram.

I accepted the photo-shoot opportunity, and we started texting and planned on a date and time when we could get together and start shooting. We did a lot of brainstorming and planning out details through text such as what we thought a good location would be and also a good theme for it. Once, we set a theme [Boho Chic] I stared shopping around and looking at different boutiques and stores. We decided that we would shoot in a outdoorsy area around the time that the sun was setting so the lighting would be perfect, we were both so excited to bring our ideas to life!

I finally received the pictures and I am in AWE over how they came out, so I thought I would share with y’all for those of you who don’t follow me on Instagram just yet 😉

I decided that I wanted to go with an outfit that included a lace up criss-cross top because I thought that it would go with the theme, what I ended up finding while shopping ended up being much better instead, while I was shopping in A’GACI I found a long sleeve, black, dress that ended up having the criss-cross lace up on the chest. Luckily, I found the last size small they had! Usually I get loose fitting dresses in extra small instead of small, but I couldn’t find any extra small dresses and just went with size small instead. I had also noticed that the trend for lace up ballet flats was starting to become a trend as well, and I found a perfect style at Old Navy for only $15. I thought that the lace up flats would compliment the lace up dress chest perfectly. I loved that the dress was black, because it was simple but I knew that I could dress it up with makeup and accessories.

We had decided on doing 2 different outfits for the shoot, and I was completely lost on what to wear for the second outfit change. I went shopping around for a few days and couldn’t find anything that I liked and went with the Nature-Boho theme. One day, however, I was shopping in Charlotte Russe and found a taupe colored wide long sleeve top with details around the forearm cuff area that I thought I could pair perfectly with white simple jeans, a long, gold necklace to compliment the color of the top, and taupe colored booties.

The day of the shoot, I was so excited that the day was finally here ~ time to bring these ideas to life! After school, I went over to Laura’s and her sister Elizabeth did my makeup, she decided to go with a neutral look since we were going with a boho theme and we didn’t want the makeup to conflict with the theme. She contoured my face and added some false natural looking lash extensions, and then we added one of my maroon lipsticks from Stila to finish off the look. We decided to shoot at this park in Grey Forest called Madla Park which has this huge open field of sun flowers and plants and had a beautiful scenery.  I have never been more comfortable with anybody doing a shoot except with my best friend Angelica, but the shoot went so well and I felt like such a natural with Laura. Down below I will post the pictures 🙂

Thanks for reading! Have a great week!

Zelle Boutique Blogger Meet-Up

Yesterday I went to a pop up shop in downtown San Antonio for  Zelle boutique, an online boutique based in San Antonio who got chosen by PopUpSA to have a pop up shop downtown from December 11-19th.

Zelle boutique is owned by 2 twin sisters Michelle and Christine. They started their boutique a little over a year ago and already have a huge following base. You can find them on social media @ShopZelle and find their website at shopzelle.coChristine said although they had a huge online based following, they wanted to interact more with local bloggers. The pop up shop was the perfect opportunity to get us all together in the same place to network and of course do what fashion bloggers love to do, shop!

Right when I walked in I was greeted by the twin sisters and offered snacks that ranged from Macaroons, Poinsetta Punch, a variety of other cookies, and crackers with ham and cheese. The shop was set up so cute and artsy, you would think that they were permanently housed out of this location with the way everything was so beautifully set up. One thing I loved most about the decor is that most of it was hand made, Christine told me that shes very into crafts and she said she made a majority of the decorations. The shop was on the river walk with some stairs leading up looking into the shop so Christine made window decorations that were made out of white cone solo cups attached by fishing string and had letters from Urban Outfitters that spelled out “Z-E-L-L-E” as shown behind me in this picture.

The accessories wall was definitely my favorite though with the string lights and the picture frames of different art work. They had a wide range of accessories from different styles of sunnies (one of which I bought), bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and fall accessories such as headbands and scarfs.

IMG_1140.JPG

I love that Zelle caters to everything you could want from all kinds of clothes, accessories, and shoes. They are a shop that offers it all! Many boutiques have very  cute clothes and jewelry but a majority of them are very over priced, I love that Zelles shop is affordable and everything is good quality! I got two tops, sunglasses, and a bracelet for around $5o, which is usually how much I would pay for one shirt at any other boutique!

Sunnies – $15

IMG_1161IMG_1163

I tried on this top and absolutely loved how comfy and versatile it was! I can dress it up or dress it down and accessorize it in anyway. I originally had just purchased the black one but then I thought about it and talked myself into getting both colors because it was so hard for me to decide which color to get! The tops were only $20 which wasn’t bad at all! I think they will definitely be my go-to tops this winter.

Before leaving, I was handed a goodie bag which included free earrings, sunnies, a clutch, a coupon with 20% off my purchase, their business card, and a note pad tat says “Hello Holidays”.

Zelle is the place to shop, with two amazing sisters who are sharing their passion for fashion with all their products, they are so caring and easy to talk to and they love to talk fashion with you! One thing that really stuck with me was when Christine told me that they own this shop as a hobby, they aren’t trying to just make a profit from it but they truly care about their customer relationships and making people happy! If you’re in the San Antonio area be sure to check out their pop up shop until December 19th at 140 E. Houston St. Suite 40 , San Antonio, Tx 78249. Even if you aren’t in the San Antonio area I recommend you check their trendy shop out online, I’m sure you will fall in love with their collection!

Thats all for now, follow me on social media at @itsxoxoloriallison to keep up with what I’m doing and on snapchat @xoxoloriallison

Happy Holidays!

Fashion Week San Antonio

A week filled with fashion shows, glamour, fashion designers, after parties, models and all things fashion! Who wouldn’t love a whole week dedicated to all those amazing things? I wish the week could’ve lasted much longer but I am so happy to have experienced Fashion Week San Antonio 2015. Lucky for me, since I was an intern I was able to see all the behind the scenes preparation and able to take part in the planning and all the things that come into play when planning fashion week!

FWSA15 Designers:

Duquevelez by Jorge Duque Velez SS 2016
A’GACI SS 2016
Moda Next Showcase SS 2016
Anthony Ryan SS 2016
Samantha Plasencia SS 2016
Reuben Reuel Fall/Winter 2015
Celestino SS 2016

DUQUEVELEZ

Jorge Duque Velez had some of the most unique designs I’ve ever seen. He is a Colombia native and used a lot of mesh/jersey materials on his clothes and had a lot of unique colors, graphics, jewels, and accessories on his pieces. I didn’t get to take a picture of it, but he had tops made from wood as well and they were the coolest thing! He really knew what women were looking for when shopping and almost all of his dresses or skirts had built in pockets, which were my favorite! I worked behind the scenes with him steaming the clothes and getting to know him and he was the sweetest man ever and I was in love with all his pieces!

A’GACI

I’m not sure if many people know this, but San Antonio is where A’GACI’s headquarters are located. They’ve had fashion shows in our previous fashion weeks as well and who better to be in our fashion week than the top retail store that A’GACI is. I think its so cool that the corporate offices are here because it gives us fashionista’s a chance to work in the fashion industry by working for them and making our way up there. They had a lot of looks for the upcoming holidays and some casual wear.

Moda Next: Fashion’s Forthcoming

Moda Next featured 6 different designers from San Antonio: Joey Ramirez, Valerie Perez, Tessa Guerra, Christian Alonzo, Blanquita Sullivan, and Bruno Horwath. Instead of this event being a fashion show, it was a walk through showcase where they were all in the same room and people were able to walk around to see each of their designs. Bruno Horwath‘s (IG: @alaverbclothing) line was menswear and it included polo’s and button-up shirts with different colored pants. I liked his collection because it was colorful clothes for guys and they all looked so handsome! Christian Alonzo‘s (IG: @91authentic) collection was very Yeezy inspired and included all black colored clothes all paired with Adidas sneakers, I loved it! Tessa Guerra‘s (IG: @rueandme) collection was all clothes for little girls, she was inspired for her collection from her daughters. Blanquita Sullivan‘s (IG: @bonjourbiqui) collection was soo cute and included dresses and two piece sets. Her collection is perfect for a summer day at a park for a picnic. Valerie Perez‘s (IG: @boutiqueverseau)collection was very 80’s themed and was one of my favorite collections! All pieces included bright colored crochet garments with sunglasses paired with each and jellies for the shoes. I would honestly buy EVERYTHING from her collection! Lastly was Joey Ramirez‘s (IG: @jose_mariezsa) collection and his included clothing for women. His collection was AMAZING and included mostly wool pieces with fringe and one all white two piece outfit! This showcase made me so proud to be from San Antonio because all these designers were so amazing and talented!

Anthony Ryan

Anthony Ryan was from Baton Rouge, Louisiana is a designer from Project Runway winner from season 9. His collection was so unique and had some amazing designs for women and men. His boutique The Anthill is located in the Stone Oak area of San Antonio. His designs included jackets, ponchos, and lots of layering. Definitely be sure to check out his boutique!

Samantha Plasencia

Former project runway contestant Samantha Plasencia from season 13 and alumni of our very own Incarnate Word Fashion School. Her collection included street wear for women and men. The collection was a very comfortable but trendy feel, and the music during the fashion show was all hip hop and included music from Travis Scott and Kanye West.

Reuben Reuel

Reuben Reuel is a designer from Brooklyn, New York. His brand named Demestiks New York is all about colorful prints and different mix of African patterns from dresses and two piece sets. Beyoncé has been seen and photographed wearing his designs.

25-beyonce.w529.h352

Celestino

Celestino’s collection was all about evening gowns! The gowns were a little risque where they showed a tasteful amount of skin but also covered enough of the body to still be elegant. His designs were amazing and I would definitely wear some of the gowns to an award show or fancy event!

I love that San Antonio has been getting its name out there in terms of the fashion industry and is continuing to grow and put out city on the map.Throughout the years I’ve done some soul searching and learned more about myself and came to the conclusion that I want to have a career in something I’m passionate about – and what better career than a career in the fashion industry! This lead me to start blogging and sharing my style with other people in the world such as you all, my amazing followers! Getting this internship was an amazing opportunity for me because it was my first time working with people who were just as passionate about fashion as I was. I was a little nervous but it was such an amazing experience! I can’t wait to be part of the fashion week San Antonio team again next year and continue to get my name out there and network!
